West Sayville Flying Dutchmen 2015 Co-State Champions

 

Congratulations to the 2015 Co-State Champions, the West Sayville Flying Dutchmen. This is the first time in the history of the State Championship that there has been a tie for first place. The Flying Dutchmen tied with the Central Islip Hoboes with 14 pts. This victory marks the Flying Dutchmen 12th State Championship.

 

4/30/2015 - West Sayville FD responds to an MVA

On April 30th 2015 the West Sayville Fire Dept. was activated for a MVA on Shore Dr. in Oakdale. While enroute, responding units were advised that it was reported a vehicle struck a house with the driver still inside the vehicle. Upon arrival of Chief Domingo and SCPD the patient was quickly extricated from the vehicle due to a medical emergency. The patient was handed over to Sayville Community Ambulance Co. and was transported to a local hospital. Arriving crews from West Sayville FD secured the utilities to the house due to the extensive damage to the structure.

9/6/2014 - WSFD Responds to a Structure Fire

On September 6th, 2014 the West Sayville Fire Department was activated for a reported structure fire. While enroute, Chief Robert Doucet was notified by the dispatcher of reports of visible smoke and flames. Chief Doucet requested that a working fire be transmitted.
Once onscene, the Chief assumed command . Crews stretched a line through the side door of the house and extinguished the fire. A primary search was conducted and while no residents were home at the time, a dog was rescued from the residence and handed over to Sayville Community Ambulance. They transported the dog to a local animal hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Sayville Community Ambulance was on scene and provided rehab for firefightes due to the high humidity. Mutual Aid was provided by Bohemia FD, Sayville FD, and Bayport FD.

2/3/2014 - WSFD Responds to a Structure Fire

On February 3rd 2014 the West Sayville Fire Department was activated for a reported structure fire. While enroute Chief Robert Doucet got a report from a member of the Sayville Fire Department that there was visable fire coming from a windows on the 1st floor of the house. With that information and heavy smoke in the area Chief Doucet requested that a working fire be dispatched. Once onscene the Chief assumed command and operations was assumed by 2nd Assistant Chief Todd Gray . The crews from Engine 8 and Engine 1 streatched a line to the 1st floor and extinguished the fire. The remaining crews were tasked with extensive overhaul on the 2nd floor, looking for any additional fire spread. The fire was quickly brought under control. Sayville Community ambulance was on scene and transported 2 residents to the hospital. Mutual Aid was provided by Bohemia FD, Sayville FD, and Bayport FD.
